The house

From a stall in Souq Al-Zal to a house in Al Olaya.

Our grandfather Abdulrahman began selling oud from a small stall in Souq Al-Zal in 1998, weighing each tola by hand and knowing the wood by its scent before he lit it. Today we blend in our own atelier in Riyadh, in small batches of no more than 200 bottles.

We named the house after the araar, the wild flower of Najd that poets sang of: a scent you never forget, and one that stays only with those who value it.

تمتّع من شميمِ عرارِ نجدٍفما بعد العشيّةِ من عرارِ

Breathe in the araar of Najd while you may, for after this evening there is no more araar.

The art of layering

Three layers, and a scent that lasts into the night.

This is how Najd has always worn scent: smoke, then oil, then perfume. Each layer anchors the one above it.

  1. 01

    Smoke

Pass your thobe, shemagh or abaya over bakhoor smoke before you dress.

  2. 02

    Oil

A drop of oud or musk oil on the pulse points: wrists, behind the ears, the base of the neck.

  3. 03

    Spray

Two sprays of eau de parfum over the oil, not instead of it, then let the layers settle.

Find your layers

Three questions, and we suggest three layers that suit you.

How present should it be?

Questions

Before you order.

Not answered here?

Ask us on WhatsApp
Is your oud oil natural?

Yes. Our oud oils are distilled from natural agarwood, and every bottle is labelled with its origin and distillation year. Testers are always out in the boutique if you’d like to judge for yourself.

How long does delivery take, and what does it cost?

In Riyadh we deliver the same day for orders confirmed before 4 pm, for 25 SAR. The rest of the Kingdom takes one to four working days, for 35 SAR. Delivery is free on orders over 500 SAR.

How do I pay?

Once your WhatsApp message reaches us, we confirm the order and send a secure payment link (mada, Apple Pay, STC Pay, Visa and Mastercard), or you can pay cash on delivery. Prices include 15% VAT.

Do you gift-wrap?

Yes, free of charge: in the house box with a card we write by hand. Add your message in the bag, and we can deliver straight to the person you’re gifting.

Can I return or exchange?

Unopened items can be returned or exchanged within 7 days of delivery, in their original packaging. Opened oils and bakhoor can’t be returned for hygiene reasons, but message us if anything is wrong and we’ll put it right.

What are your Ramadan hours?

In Ramadan we open daily from 8:30 pm to 2:00 am, and we share Eid hours on WhatsApp a week before.

Do you ship outside Saudi Arabia?

For now we ship within Saudi Arabia only. For the other Gulf countries we can arrange shipping on request, so message us on WhatsApp.
